When do I pay?
After you send a booking request, the vendor will accept or decline (usually) within a few hours. Once your booking is accepted, you will be notified by email and will now have to then pay online through AnchorsBook in order to confirm your slot within 48 hours before your booking date/arrival.
What is a rental vs. a charter?
Rentals are when you completely operate and control the watercraft. Charters are when you are provided a captain (included in the rate/price).
What’s the ‘rate’ (price) for different watercrafts?
Rates are for either an hour, several hour slot, or day. More details are included in the listing title and/or description.
Do I need a boating license for a rental in Toronto?
No, not if chartering (with a captain)!
Yes for rentals (driving yourself), BUT our vendors can provide a temporary watercraft checklist which serves as a license for driving a boat, just arrive 15-20 minutes early to do the paperwork.
Do I need a boating license for a rental in the UAE (Dubai or Abu Dhabi)?
Not needed for charters or rentals! Just make sure to arrive with your emirates ID or passport on your person.
How long does it take to setup? Can I cancel?
Rentals or Charters can ALWAYS be setup/ready for the next day, or (in some cases) on the same day.
Each vender has their own cancellation policy in their listing, otherwise the AnchorsBook policy is simply refunds for bad weather or events out of anyone’s control. You can cancel or file a dispute from the booking itself, or using this form.
Why do I need to log in to book?
This is so that you are better able to message/coordinate with a vendor, as well as track your booking (outside of our automated notifications) at any time and cancel/dispute it if needed.
I need more information, can I contact the vendor?
Feel free to contact us* (Email, Phone Call, Whatsapp) with any questions about the booking process, or specific listing and our team support team will get back to you (8:00am-8:00pm all week).
Once your booking has been accepted and payment completed, you are able to directly message the vendor to better coordinate pickup/dropoff if needed.
FAQ:
How much does AnchorsBook take from vendors earnings? What’s your charge for the setup/admin fees?
We take a 10% commission on rental or charter revenues (far lower than competitors). We only make money when you do, and in exchange we provide our platform, secure payment & escrow, as well as advertising your listing and getting you more bookings. Listing and setup fees are free of charge!
Do you check renters for proper ID?
YES, they have to submit their Passport or other relevant ID. You can view their files on your profile at any time, as well as vet or message them.
What if they damage the boat? Is there a security deposit?
There is a security deposit that you can set and collect in your listing.
How and when can I get paid?
You get paid right after a rental or charter ends, after 12 hours. We can e-transfer, PayPal, or bank transfer the payment (at your preference). After the first payment/preference we can automate your payouts.
Can I captain (charter) for renters instead of them driving my boat?
YES, you are able to have charters where you captain, it can be a private or group (tour) charter.
There may be cancellation in case of bad weather condition. How do I cancel a booking?
You may set your own cancellation policies (make it clear in your listing). You are able to cancel a booking before payment is made online within the listing/account. If you wish to cancel after payment is made you can contact our 24/7 support to cancel the booking and enforce relevant cancellation policy and refunds.
Do I need to get different insurance for the boat?
You would need to get commercial rental insurance, which we can help you setup in a week with our partner (CANADA ONLY, not valid for International Vendors). You can have any insurance policy that covers liability for watercraft rentals (commercial activities). AnchorsBook has an exclusive partnership with Gifford Carr to fast track our vendors insurance applications for watercraft rentals, and get them the lowest rates in the market!
Does AnchorsBook set the rates?
NO, you set whatever rates you wish. We might perform currency conversions on rates you set as well as add on fees paid by the renter.
Why Can’t I message the Renter yet?
ONLY after a renter has successfully paid for your booking (following you accepting their request and reviewing their documents) can you message the renter.
At this stage, when the renter has paid, please feel free to exchange phone numbers if you wish to better coordinate pickup/dropoff.
